2005 Cycle the Divide Colorado
Event Summary:
Trip: Aug 13 - Aug 19; CO
Route: Begins in Steamboat Springs, CO; 7-day catered and van supported dirt-road event with return shuttle.
Days: 7   Miles: 250 total
Roads: 85% dirt, 15% paved   Riders: 70
Cost: $799



TRIP ITINERARY
Day One: Saturday - August 13, Arrive in Steamboat Springs
Participants gather for an orientation meeting in Steamboat Springs, a wintertime ski town in northern Colorado west of the Divide.

Day Two: Sunday - August 14, Steamboat to Stagecoach State Park, 20 miles
On the first day of your tour, you'll head south along the Yampa River, past Lake Catamount to Stagecoach State Park and Reservoir.



Day Three: Monday - August 15, Stagecoach State Park to Kremmling, 59 miles
On this day of the tour, you'll ride over Lynx Pass (8,937 feet), along Morrison and Blacktail Creeks, through the town of Radium, and past Inspiration Point on the Colorado River.



Day Four: Tuesday - August 16, Kremmling to Silverthorne, 51 miles
This day, you'll ride past Williams Fork Reservoir and the Williams Fork River to Ute Pass (9,730 feet). The five-mile descent from Ute Pass offers stunning views of the Gore Range. The last 12 miles into Silverthorne are along a portion of the paved TransAmerica Trail.



Day Five: Wednesday - August 17, Silverthorne (layover)
Today you have many options: ride singletrack, ride the bike trail to Breckenridge for lunch, walk around Silverthorne, check out Dillon Reservoir, or any number of other fun and interesting activities.

Day Six: Thursday - August 18, Silverthorne to Hartsel Springs Ranch, 65 miles
Today you ride through Frisco and Breckenridge, popular wintertime ski towns. You'll also ascend to the highest point of the entire tour, Boreas Pass (11,482 feet). You'll ride through the South Park area of Colorado and into Hartsel, another town along the TransAm Trail.



Day Seven: Friday - August 19, Hartsel Springs Ranch to Salida, 54 miles
As you ride toward Salida, you'll enjoy awesome views of the Sawatch Range and an equally awesome 10-mile downhill stretch. Salida, situated along the beautiful Arkansas River, is blessed with many amenities, including Salida Hot Springs.
